Rientro is built around a simple belief:

Sometimes that understanding requires information about a person's location, activity, environment, or other circumstances surrounding their care.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Rientro may receive, why we use it, when it may be shared, how we protect it, and the choices available to you.

We do not treat personal information as a commodity.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for advertising.

We collect and use information because it can be necessary to provide the Service, maintain its reliability, support caregivers and care teams, improve how the Service understands changing circumstances, and communicate information when a configured response is warranted.

1. Privacy Begins With Purpose

Rientro does not begin with a list of sensors.

It begins with a purpose.

The Service is intended to help caregivers and care teams understand meaningful changes in circumstances and respond with greater clarity, while preserving as much continuity and ordinary life as possible.

That means information is collected and processed according to what the Service is designed to accomplish.

A signal by itself is rarely the point.

Location, movement, time, device state, physiological information, or other signals may become meaningful only when considered together with context.

Accordingly, Rientro may process information to:

• provide the Service and its features;
• understand changes in circumstances;
• generate notifications, priorities, or other forms of assistance;
• maintain continuity of monitoring and care;
• communicate information to people you have authorized;
• maintain security, reliability, and system performance;
• troubleshoot and support the Service;
• understand system behavior and improve the Service; and
• comply with applicable law.

We seek to collect information that is reasonably necessary for these purposes rather than collecting information simply because it is technically available.

2. Information We May Collect

The information Rientro processes depends on how the Service is configured, the devices and integrations you use, and the features available to your account.

2.1 Account and Profile Information

This may include:

• name and account information;
• contact information;
• account credentials and authentication information;
• subscription information;
• caregiver or facility relationships;
• information about the person receiving care;
• photographs or other identifying information provided by you;
• emergency contacts; and
• other information you choose to enter into a profile.

Where you provide information about another person, you are responsible for having an appropriate basis or authority to provide that information.

2.2 Location and Movement Information

Depending on the configuration of the Service, we may process:

• GPS/GNSS location;
• changes in location;
• movement or activity state;
• direction and speed;
• geofence-related events;
• information indicating departure from or return to a configured location; and
• other location-related information generated by supported devices.

Location information may be collected in the background when the relevant feature is enabled and permitted by the device operating system.

Location information is used to provide the location-dependent features of the Service, support caregiver awareness, and help the system distinguish meaningful changes from ordinary variation.

2.3 Device and Environmental Signals

Supported devices may provide information such as:

• battery status;
• connectivity status;
• Wi-Fi connection state;
• wearable status or off-body detection;
• accelerometer or gyroscope information;
• fall-related events;
• device availability;
• operating-system or device information; and
• other technical signals necessary to provide supported features.

Rientro does not necessarily retain every raw signal indefinitely.

Some information may be transformed, summarized, or discarded when it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

2.4 Health and Physiological Information

Depending on the devices and permissions you enable, Rientro may receive information such as heart rate or fall-related information.

Such information may be used as one signal among others to provide or improve features of the Service.

Rientro does not use this information to provide medical diagnosis or treatment.

We do not assume that a physiological signal, by itself, accurately represents a person's medical condition.

2.5 Information You Choose to Provide

You may provide additional information that helps caregivers understand the person being monitored, including:

• physical descriptions;
• relevant medical or care information;
• medications;
• photographs;
• important locations;
• emergency instructions;
• notes or contextual information; and
• other information you choose to enter.

Because some of this information may be sensitive, we encourage users to provide only information that is reasonably necessary for the intended purpose.

2.6 Technical and Usage Information

Like most software services, Rientro may receive technical information necessary to operate and secure the Service, such as:

• device type and operating system;
• application version;
• network and connectivity information;
• authentication and security events;
• error and diagnostic information; and
• information concerning interaction with the Service.

This information helps us maintain reliability, investigate failures, detect abuse, and improve the Service.

3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Rientro is not designed to monitor everything around a person.

Unless a future feature expressly states otherwise, Rientro does not intentionally collect:

• microphone audio;
• continuous video;
• messages or conversations from a caregiver's device;
• contact lists from a caregiver's device; or
• Wi-Fi passwords.

A supported device may provide information about whether it is connected to a configured network, but this does not mean that Rientro receives the network's password.

4. How Information Becomes Useful

Rientro may combine different signals to understand circumstances.

For example, a change in location may mean something different depending on time of day, movement, previous patterns, device condition, or other available context.

This means that Rientro does not necessarily treat every signal as an event requiring action.

The Service may:

• evaluate signals together;
• reduce or summarize repeated information;
• identify changes from established patterns;
• prioritize information;
• generate an alert or notification;
• determine that no intervention is warranted; or
• use an outcome to improve future system behavior.

These processes may change as the Service evolves.

The existence of a particular alert, threshold, system level, model, or decision process at one point in time does not mean that Rientro will always use the same mechanism.

5. Sharing Information

Rientro shares information according to the purpose for which it is processed and the configuration established by the user or applicable organization.

5.1 Caregivers and Authorized Users

Information may be made available to caregivers, family members, or other users whom the account holder or authorized organization has permitted to access the Service.

Access is controlled according to account relationships, permissions, and applicable system rules.

A user should receive only the information appropriate to the access granted to that user.

5.2 Facility Deployments

Where Rientro is deployed by a facility or other organization, that organization may determine which individuals are authorized to access information and how the Service is used within the organization.

Depending on the applicable arrangement and law, the facility may act as the organization responsible for determining the purposes of certain processing, while Rientro provides technology and processing services on its behalf.

Additional contractual terms may apply to organizational deployments.

5.3 Emergency Contacts

Rientro may send configured information to emergency contacts when the Service determines that a configured emergency condition has occurred.

Depending on the configuration, this may include information such as:

• current or recent location;
• a tracking link;
• identifying information;
• relevant care or medical information; and
• other information specifically configured for emergency communication.

These recipients are selected by the user or authorized organization.

Rientro does not independently decide that a particular person should receive emergency information merely because that person may be useful.

The purpose of emergency sharing is to support the human response established by the user.

Rientro does not place emergency calls or dispatch police, ambulance, fire services, or other public emergency responders through the Service unless a future feature expressly states otherwise.

A message sent to an emergency contact is not an emergency dispatch.

5.4 Service Providers

We may use trusted third-party providers to operate parts of the Service, including providers for:

• cloud infrastructure;
• databases;
• communications;
• authentication;
• mapping or positioning;
• monitoring and diagnostics;
• payment processing; and
• other infrastructure necessary to provide the Service.

These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary for the services they provide and are subject to appropriate contractual or other protections where required by applicable law.

5.5 Legal and Safety Requirements

We may disclose information when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of Rientro, our users, or another person, subject to applicable law.

6. What We Do Not Do With Your Information

Rientro does not sell personal information.

Rientro does not use personal information for targeted advertising.

We do not provide personal information to advertisers in exchange for payment.

We do not treat a person's location history, care information, or behavioral information as an advertising asset.

If the Service evolves to support a materially different use of personal information, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notice or obtain any consent required by applicable law.

7. Learning and Improvement

Rientro is designed to become more useful as it learns from experience.

That does not mean that every user's personal history becomes a product to be mined.

We may use information generated through the Service to:

• evaluate reliability;
• understand false or unnecessary alerts;
• improve system performance;
• identify technical failures;
• improve the interpretation of signals;
• develop and evaluate new features;
• improve the ability of the Service to distinguish meaningful changes from ordinary variation; and
• develop more useful forms of assistance.

Where information is used for analytics, model development, research, or similar purposes beyond the immediate provision of the Service, Rientro will apply appropriate safeguards and will use information in accordance with applicable law.

Where reasonably practicable, we may use aggregated, de-identified, pseudonymized, or otherwise protected information for these purposes.

We do not promise that information can always be completely anonymized or that re-identification is mathematically impossible.

We will not use personal information for unrelated commercial purposes merely because the information is available to us.

8. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining security, resolving disputes, complying with legal obligations, and maintaining appropriate records.

Retention periods may differ by category of information.

For example:

• account information may be retained while an account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward where necessary for legal, security, or operational purposes;
• detailed location or incident information may be retained while needed to provide the Service or allow authorized users to review relevant events;
• summarized or derived information may be retained for a different period where it no longer identifies a particular person's precise history;
• technical logs may be retained for security and operational purposes for limited periods; and
• information subject to a legal retention obligation may be retained for the period required by law.

We do not retain precise location history indefinitely merely because storage is technically possible.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary and there is no legal or operational reason to retain it, we will delete it, securely dispose of it, or appropriately de-identify it.

9. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Rientro account and associated personal information, subject to information that we are required or permitted to retain by law or that is reasonably necessary for legitimate legal, security, or operational purposes.

We will process deletion requests within a reasonable period and in accordance with applicable law.

Deletion may not be instantaneous across every system or backup environment. Where information remains temporarily in secure backups, it will be removed or overwritten according to the applicable backup lifecycle.

10. Access, Correction, and Export

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

• access personal information we hold about you;
• request correction of inaccurate information;
• request deletion;
• request restriction of certain processing;
• object to certain processing;
• request portability of certain information;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
• lodge a complaint with an applicable data-protection authority.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Some rights may be limited by applicable law.

Where a facility or other organization controls the processing of information, you may need to direct certain requests to that organization as well as to Rientro.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Depending on the system component, these measures may include:

• encryption in transit;
• encryption at rest;
• authenticated access;
• database-level access controls;
• separation between accounts and organizations;
• restricted administrative access;
• monitoring and logging;
• security updates; and
• operational controls for sensitive systems.

Rientro does not claim that any security system is completely impenetrable.

Some Rientro personnel or service providers may require controlled access to information to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, secure, or support the Service.

Such access is not the same as unrestricted access by the public or by other users.

We do not represent that Rientro uses end-to-end encryption for information stored within the Service unless expressly stated for a particular feature.

12. International Processing

Rientro may use infrastructure or service providers located in countries other than the country in which you live.

Where personal information is transferred across borders, we will apply the safeguards required by applicable law.

The specific rights and requirements applicable to international transfers may depend on your jurisdiction.

For users in jurisdictions with specific requirements concerning location information, health information, or international transfers, additional notices, consent mechanisms, or contractual arrangements may apply.

13. Children's Information

Rientro is designed for caregivers, families, and care organizations and is not intended to be used by children to create independent accounts unless expressly permitted.

If you provide information concerning another person, you are responsible for having the authority required to do so.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to Rientro without appropriate authorization, please contact us.

14. Changes to This Policy

Rientro is a developing service.

As the Service evolves, the information it processes and the ways in which it is used may also evolve.

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, technology, or legal obligations change.

When we make material changes, we will provide appropriate notice, which may include an in-app notice, website notice, or email.

The updated Policy will identify its effective date.

We will not materially expand our use of personal information in a manner inconsistent with this Policy without providing any notice or obtaining any consent required by applicable law.

15. A Note About the Future

Rientro's technology will change.

Signals may change.

Devices may change.

Algorithms may change.

Features may come and go.

An alert that matters today may not be the mechanism that matters tomorrow.

What should remain constant is the purpose for which information is entrusted to us:

to help people understand changing circumstances, support continuity, and preserve the conditions in which ordinary life can continue.

We therefore intend to treat personal information not as something Rientro owns, but as something entrusted to us for a purpose.

That responsibility grows with what the Service can understand.
